What is Green Oak?
/“Green Oak” is a classification term for oak that has been felled within the past 18 months. This type of oak typically has a moisture content between 60-80 percent that continues to decrease with age. Green Oak never actually appears green, in fact is is usually a light brown colour. It is referred to as green oak because of how fresh it is, not due to is colouring and appearance.
Green oak is primarily used in oak framed buildings and construction due to its strength and durability. It is also notably easier to work with than dried oak.
