What are roof shingles?

Shingles are essentially individual overlapping elements that when put together form a watertight layer of material, perfect for the job they serve on the rooftops of buildings. Shingles need to be installed from the bottom base of the roof as each row above them will be placed with a slight overlap coming over the top of them, in most cases roof shingles will have multiple layers on each row anyway to cover the gaps in between the first layer.

Here at Shire Oak we supply our customers with cedar shingles, however many other materials can be used as an alternative such as asphalt, stone, ceramic and various other types of wood.
